Pears Poached in Red Wine

 Recipe

Serves 8

Ingredients 

4 pears (preferably Bosch variety)

Red wine (approx. 500ml)

1 cinnamon stick

3 cloves

Greek yoghurt

Garnish with mint leaves, maple syrup and chopped pistachio nuts (optional)

Method

  1. Peel the pears, slice in half and cut away the seeds.

  2. Place in a deep saucepan and cover with red wine.

  3. Add the cinnamon and cloves.

  4. Poach on a low heat for 2 hours.

  5. Cool and serve with the yoghurt and garnishes.
